The Magic House

While in St. Louis we took Keller to The Magic House. It was such a neat place but was crawling with children! I know. What else should we have expected on a Saturday morning? Other than the complete chaos we had a great time. There was an area for 6 years and under that we spent most of our time in.

I need to consult pinterest to see if there is a homemade version of this giant light bright. K loved it.

We are totally using this, shredded tires, instead of sand if we ever get the chance.

Climbing up the slide is way more fun than going down.

He ended up in the kitchen and insisted on toting a small frying pan around with him.

How fitting.

Some more of STL

Here are a few more pictures of our little vacay in STL. I used the baby carrier a lot on our trip. I felt like he could see the animals much better this way than in his stroller.

When he did get back into the stroller this is what happened.

The ball game was fantastic. The weather was a little warm but by no means unbearable.
If this isn't classy I don't know what is...

St. Louis Zoo

We are back from St. Louis and we had a great time. This is how we made the trip there and back... A little bit of Eebee on the iPad, sleeping, and about a million puffs.

Thursday we arrived, got settled in and went to our favorite spice store Penzy's and the the REI store.
I spent most of the time chasing this guy around the REI store. I was trying to let him run some energy out after the long car ride. He though his was big stuff climbing the two flights of stairs.

Friday morning we got up early and headed to the zoo. It was wonderful weather ad not too crowded until later in the day. Keller got to have some up close encounters with the monkeys.

They had a great children's area.

And Keller had his first carousel ride.

A good nap was had that afternoon.

Photo Dump

We are currently driving to St. Louis for a long weekend of baseball, shopping, the zoo, and some other fun stops. Kellers has been fairly sickly, fever, cough, and snot. Oh the snot. But he slept all nigh last night and ate all his breakfast so I think he is beginning to feel better. Hopefully this little trip will snap him out of the whiny funk he has been in lately. Bless his heart. We are on hour two of the trip and he's slept the whole way so far. I'm hoping to get at least three hours of sleep out of him. Let's pray I didn't just jinx our plan. Anyway, thought I'd go through my photos in my phone and and post a few to kill sometime an possibly drown out the "lithium" channel on the XM radio, hubs choice obviously
Cherrio explosion.

Rare mommy and me photo.

Loves his green smoothies in the morning (almond milk, Greek yogurt, peanut butter, banana, spinach)

Milk and a cowboy hat in Walmart.

Play with his barn on his belly like a little boy.

Life with a one year old...

Kelly's Korner is linking up today with fireplace mantels. We'll this is what mine currently looks like.

What? You don't have piles of puzzles and board books with a red cowboy hat accent on your mantel? 'Tis the season of our life right now, but eventually I would like to do a fireplace make over. I'm not crazy about the tile and I think the only remedy would be to retile it but I'll have to research (i.e. consult pinterest) on how exactly to go about it.
Secondly, anyone have a better idea than a snack trap? Apparently Keller thinks the goal is to remove all the Cheerios and throw on the floor. At least it keeps him busy for awhile. Kind of like those dog treat balls, no?

The River

We drove up to the Buffalo river a few weekends ago. Keller loves any type of water. Hopefully when he a little older we'll be able to camp on the river.

Here Keller is at the river when he was about 3 months.

So itty-bitty.

1 year old!

I can't believe you are 1 year old! You are definitely on the move now.

You are beginning to walk more than you crawl and we have got to be better at getting shoes on those hillbilly feet. We have gone two days so far with no bottle and have transitioned to "real" milk now. You moved on quickly from the bottle and never looked back. Never have been to picky about your food;) you are always babbling and making funny noises. Dada is one of your favorites. You are also starting to test your limits (turning on the dishwasher is one of your favorite no no's). You can also throw a pretty good, tearless fit and always open at least one eye to make sure we are watching. You love to play with anything that you can bang or throw and also love your books and pulling them off the self. Many times I will be in the kitchen and peak around the doorway and find you sitting in the corner reading your books. Sleep is still not really scheduled during the day. When you are home I try to get you to take and morning and afternoon nap and at school we are lucky of you take and afternoon nap. You typically fall asleep in the car during the day and are the king of power naps. You sleep through the night about 50% of the time which is ok with me. I still have to rock you to sleep but I've adopted the thought that surely I won't be rocking you at age 12 so I'd better enjoy it now.

Party!

We had Kellers first birthday party and the neighborhood pool. After a few months of no rain it of course thundered right before the party but luckily the storm held off and the weather was perfect. It was a whale theme with blues, oranges, and greens. I forgot to take a picture of the food but we just did simple peanut butter sandwiches and jello blocks in the shape if whales, and "Ks". We also had chips, salsa, and a pizza dip. We had people bring boxes of cereal instead of presents and ended up with lots to donate. We had lots of friends show up. We are so blessed to have so many people who wanted to help up celebrate.

Our friend, Dee, made his whale cake. It was so cute!

Singing "Happy Birthday!"

And Keller had no complaints.

Sharing cake with daddy.

"I'm One!"

All partied out.

Love you baby boy...
