Family Tree?

I made one of these trees for a gift to my parents for our wedding. Since then I have had a few requests to make others. I have done them where the youngest children are the trunk of the tree and the branches become parent, grandparents, ect. I have also done some where the parents are the trunk and the branches are the children, grandchildren, ect. This one is both sides of a family with the trunk being grandparents and the branches being the children and grandchildren. They make great birthday and mother's/father's day gifts. Let me know if you are interested.

Franklin Weekend

We left on Friday morning (6:30 am) to head to Coby's brother's house in Franklin, TN. We made a pit stop at the Mickey D's in Brinkley and then stopped in West Memphis to pick up a niece and nephew. Mind you we did not have a dog sitter for Tasso (Chox was a my mom's house) so, it was two kids and a dog in the back seat of the Ford SportTrac. A little squished for the remainder of 4 hours of the drive but we made it. Plans were to stay at Coby's brothers house but around 3 in the afternoon Coby began felling ill. (Not Beastie Boys "ill" as Coby would say). We ended up getting a hotel room, hoping to avoid getting the five children in the house sick. I am fairly sure that Coby had food poisoning from the McDonald's stop that left him "loosing his bodily fluids" through out the night and very dehydrated and weak the rest of the weekend. Tasso was so well behaved ALL weekend.
We also learned that a bone can last for 2-3 days with no "little brother" trying to steal it.

The weird honeycomb and bee print on the comforter.

Doesn't he look pitiful?

Even with the bout of botulism the weekend was fun a family filled. Dana made a WONDERFUL Christmas dinner on Saturday and it was so fun to see all the kids.
We saw this hot air balloon on our way home.

'Tis the Holiday Season!

It's just now Christmas break and I feel like our schedule has already been piled up for weeks. Ice days last week kept me in and made Thurday and Friday hectic. We've had our weekends packed with deer/duck hunting (Coby), niece's cheerleading competition, work and Sunday School Christmas parties, weddings, and dinners with friends. I must say, it has been just enough to keep us busy and enjoy the season. For Christmas we plan on staying with the tradition of the past few years. Christmas Eve at my parents and church, Christmas morning at Coby's brother's house for breakfast, my parents during the day, and Coby's mom's for dinner. We are going to go to TN to see Coby's brother the weekend after Christmas. Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

turkeys to trees

The Friday after our wonderful and relaxing turkey day Coby went to the football game and I was left home to finish Christmas decorations. We are in the festive mood here now, except for the tree that won't stop leaning. Oh well, it makes it seem a little more authentic I suppose. Satuday began our streak of poor luck. (Not bad luck, things could always be worse.) Don't they say things like that always come in threes?
1. Saturday on our way to Hot Springs Tasso vomited in the car.
2. Saturday on our way back home the tailer with the 4-wheeler on it blew a tire.
3. Sunday my computer thew a huge hissy fit and went all "blue screen" on me.

But as I said things could be worse. Tasso's issues seem to have resolved, and the trailer and the computer have been fixed.
In Hot Springs we 4-wheeled to the top of Hickory Nut Mountain. What a beautiful view. It is located just before you get to Mt. Harbor. Recommended for a good day trip.
This weekend Coby is going to look at deer in the woods, and I have a full agenda of nothing, which I happend to be looking very forward to. I might get some of my Christmas shopping done. Something I usually have done before Thanksgiving!

That's about all folks.

Baby Macey

We had a shower for Jenny and Baby Macey at my house on Sunday. It was a wonderful afternoon with lots of cute baby things. Can't wait for Macey to be here and come over and play!

Nebo Mania!

What a weekend. I spent it on Mt. Nebo for Elizabeth's bachelorette party. A weekend full of dancing, singing, eating, jigsaw puzzles, provocative "Clue", Phase 10, and pajamas! All this with a great view to boot! Had fun girls! Oh, and a trip to Mt. Nebo would make a good day trip and a fantastic camping trip- I highly recommend it.

Sign the petition!

It's prematurity awareness month! Working in the NICU for awhile and acknowledging that most of the children I work with now were either premature or had some sort of trauma at birth I see the need for March of Dimes everyday. I remember growing up and going with my mom around the neighborhood with our little cardboard box and "marching for dimes". Now all you have to do is make a donation online or help by signing this petition. The nation as a whole received a "D" in it's rating of premature births, and our state received an "F". So, take a second to do some reading and sign a quick petition of support. Maybe someday I will need a career change because all babies and kids will be healthy!

Oh Happy Day!...

...When Dee and Dave got MARRIED! A wedding packed weekend. Friday was the bachelorette party/sweat shop. We assembled programs and wedding favors in matching aprons! I know- it was a wild time. Saturday was the rehearsal dinner with the wedding on Sunday at Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful wedding!
Congrats guys!

Looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home. I might even attempt to rake the 798,362,965,001 leaves in our front yard!

We took 5 of the nieces and nephews to Magic Screams last weekend. We have been the last two years with other couples and had a good time, but apparently is was during the week. This years experience fell into a category with the state fair and Riverfest. It was crazy busy, i.e. 3 hour wait for the haunted houses! This was no concern of mine since I HATE haunted houses but the rides were busy to. They didn't have enough staff so some of the ride were closed and the lines in the others were long because they were rotating workers. The tickets were still full price even though the Crystal Falls part was obviously closed. Needless to say, we will not go back next year but the kids had a blast!

We also had our churches Trunk-or-Treat. Lots of fun. We did a craft project instead of a game. Paper plate spider webs, and it was quite popular.

We've had lots of stuff going on the past few weeks. So much stuff I've only put up 1/2 of my Halloween decor. The same Halloween decor that Coby made me wait to put up until September was over!
We went down to the sculpture exhibit at the Rivermarket last Saturday. It was great and hopefully it will become an annual event. We also walked the Junction Bridge downtown. The dogs had a fun outing but weren't quite sure of the height of the the bridge and preferred to walk in the middle. Kinda funny.
Coby also did a charity event for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central AR. It was a dinner for a few people on a yacht on the AR river. Things turned out wonderful even with the close cooking quarters.
This weekend is booked. We plan on taking some of the nieces and nephews to Magic Screams and we have our church Trunk-or-Treat. And I might even get the Halloween decorations finished!

TiVo strikes AGAIN!

Last night while I was finishing things up around the house I was recording Project Runway-The FINALE!, while watching an already recorded episode of Jon and Kate Plus Eight (never miss it). Coby came in and decided he wanted to watch PR with me- to root for the Arkansan. He gets to messin' around the with remote and goes to "live tv" just in time for us to catch the very last 4 seconds of PR and LeeAnn stating how excited she was that she won!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH. I couldn't obstruct my hearing fast enough! First how could it be that the designers who made

WON!

Ah well, it was a good season. Till the next..."Make It Work".

The End is Near

This was the episode that Tim Gunn visits the last designers homes and we get a first look at the final collections. Gunn's visit to Korto here in AR was portrayed very well (i.e. no hillbillies). The challenge...design a bridesmaid dress to go with the wedding dress that was already part of the collection. Korto made it through by the skin of her teeth. I really liked both dresses but I could see how they did not go together.
Jerell is not going to fashion week because of this bedazzled wedding dress and underwhelming bridesmaid dress.

Korto's designs

Leanne's designs...I really liked her wedding dress, not so crazy about the bridesmaid dress. (Sorry, the pics this week aren't that good.)

And finally Kenley. She is about on my last nerve. Her designs this week are nothing that hasn't already been done. It was mentioned on the show that her wedding dress looked like a Alexander McQueen design from his last show. What do you think?
