They Say It's Your Birthday All Day Long

Yesterday was a full, full, full day. My spectacular hubby let me choose the whole days events. First we went to the AR Certified Farmers Market. It's on the NLR side of the river. Although it's on a smaller scale than the one on the LR side it is all AR farmers which is good to know. Then we drove to the big city of Guy to Riddles Elephant Sanctuary. We took more wrong turns than right but eventually found it, paid our $5 and saw the retired circus elephants. I thought it was worth is but if you plan on going let me know so you can get SPECIFIC directions.

At the Traveler's game that night the Amazing Christopher performed. What a Sight! The new Halos dance team also performed. Since when to baseball teams have dance/cheer teams you ask. Since now I tell you. And might I add that I thought the outfits were a bit risque for a family venue. Has 28 turned me into a conservative prude? You tell me.

It's this great, FREE, online family organizer. You can create lists, shopping or to do. As many lists as you want!!! Keep a calendar with remiders, and a family journal. All of this information can be accessed by whoever has the account password and you can text or email information straight from the computer. Just today Coby ran to the grocery store for me. I got on Cozi, made a quick list and texted it to him. It very easy, no frills of fuss!

Do Di Do, Do Di Do

My lovely husband got this for me yesterday! Part birthday gift part the screen went out on my other computer. For whatever reason I LOVE IT. It is so speedy and sleek! An inspiron for inspiration to blog!

I mean really, it just took exactly 2 seconds to upload that picture! Although I'm going to have to do some training on this super touchy mouse.


School is DONE, DU, DUN, DUN, DONE! I will be doing some contract work for extra dough ~3 days a week. I will also need to make a to do list to be completed by the fall including painting the the trim of the windows from cream to white and maybe staining the back fence. I also have some training dates for the counselors and volunteers at camp.

What has been on my mind lately. Hm.


The other day we we're referred to as DINKS: double income no kids. Albeit true not sure if I like the terminology. Does this mean I was an OINK when I was single?


Will Chox ever not completely flip out on the mailman and meter man?

Got a new book (Coby has become some what of a Amazon addict.) The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. It should be good. I got one of these for my mom for Mother's Day and picked one up for myself as well. I recommend it for avid readers.

It's Summer Time and the Living is Easy!

Oh, I do love this warm weather and long days. We've been keeping busy lately with fun things. Last weekend we went four wheeling in the Ouachita National Forest and saw this....

Over Memorial Day weekend we go a lot of "house" things done. I just made the mistake of not taking before pictures. Coby laid pavers in an area of the back yard that used to be covered with big concrete blocks every foot or so.


I planted some flowers and laid mulch in the front. I am also in the process of giving the front porch a make over. It used to have a cute but very uncomfortable white swing. We replaced this with a duo of black rocking chairs. And (a year later) I made THIS into a little end table.



Last night Coby and I biked the LR RiverTrail. We did about 15 miles in 1.5 hours including a few rest stops. It was great, the hardest part was going up the Big Dam Bridge, you should go. Afterwards we ate dinner at one of our favorites, Pei Wei. I'd say that makes for a pretty good Tuesday.

School is out in one more day and we will being going to Flordia in 1.5 weeks!
I do love summer!

Puzzling Love

-Bradley is a graduate and is headed into his first year of law school. I have made it my duty to form him into a socially conscious lawyer.





-How does that movie get onto the dvd and then off onto the tv? If this can be done how come pantyhose still get runs in them?




-The Boys survived sleep away camp for one night (a preparation for when we go to Florida). But sure were glad to be home. (by boys i mean the two dogs, not 1 dog and my husband)





-What's that I feel? Oh the cool spring evening breeze through the screen of our NEW DOUBLE HUNG RED DOT WARNING UNLOCKED WINDOWS!





-How can those giant cookie crumb coated Weight Watcher fudge bars be only 1 point?




-I heart Lionel Richie and Johnny Depp



-Ordered an outdoor rug for the front porch and am treasure hunting for 2 black rocking chair so I can drink sweet tea and read novels on the porch this summer.

-I think I have senioritis due to the end of the school year. (hence no paragraphs, again). Wondering if this is going to be a yearly thing, and if it means I am feeling as young as a senior or as old as a one?

PICTURES AND PONCHOS

We went to the lake last weekend with Coby's family. In all there were 22 of us including 11 adults, 9 kids, and 2 dogs in a trailer with a LARGE deck. Thank goodness for the covered deck! All of the kids wanted to go 4-wheeling so badly but the rain never stopped. When it would let up everyone would rain gear up and then it would begin lightening. Finally it let up long enough to get everyone suited up and on their way. They were able to ride for a few hours in the drizzle, rain, and downpour. I meanwhile, was able to sit on a comfy, dry chair with a blanket and good book on the porch listening to the rain. Here are some pictures. I had some reservations about the safety of ponchos and 4-wheelers but felt it best to keep the comments to myself.

Skylar is such a ladies man. Evyn was feeding him, Sterling was rubbing his belly, and Peri was wiping every little dribble from his chin. Oh what a life!

before april runs out

-making a list because I am to lazy to form paragraphs
-life has been dulldrums lately: not in a Cathy cartoon way
-we went to Craws for Paws last night. i am prefacing this by noting the fact that it was for a very good cause but...i stood in a line the length of a football field for 2 hours for a plate full of mudbugs
-been watching LOST reruns with closed captioning on...(ghost whispering in the jungle) and have decided that i want to name my next dog Mr. Echo
-attempting to grow a mini garden and the dill is a bloomin
-next weekend will be spent at the lake, Coby's brother in coming to town and the weekend after that in Fayetteville for my little brothers college graduation- pictures to come.
-work has been busy. conferences on every kid i see 30+. frustration over parents who call to reschedule so i drive across town and they don't show, and over parents who don't show when their children are being retained because they are failing- no show to me means i don't care. you are the parent YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO CARE!!!!
-our refrigirator broke- maytag man wanted to fix it with a $25 part for $160
we are ordering the part on our own and hoping were are handy enough
-our 1 year anniversary is next weekend! Coby just asked if i want AquaGlobes for an anniversary present- ahh marital bliss.

Here Comes the Rain

Spring is offically here. I love it. Really going to try to get the front yard in order this year. Adding mulch and bushes. Can't decide what color of azaleas to go with. What matches a gray house without looking crazy loud? Sad the daffodils didn't last longer and have now left me with bunches of useless green leaves.
Spring break is over and I'm onto counting the months left of school. 2.
We spent the weekend at the lake for spring break. The dogs had their first swim of the season.


Now to brag on my husband a bit. He has been working on getting his Certified Executive Chef certification and is just about there. He passed the written and practicum exams and is now just waiting on a few continuing education hours. The annual AR Chef Ball was last Monday and he made a wonderful Thai cocnut lemongrass soup with sweet chili oil and fried rice noodles! YUM. Everyone raved about it.
Lastly, as we continue house improvements we plan on getting new windows before spring is over. Who ever knew how many options there were to windows?! I do think we have picked out what we want and hopefully will have them within the month!
